🠔 back

I drew Sage again after I beat Frontiers, because the first image I did literally the same day she was revealed and before there was very clear reference of her design available kind of...was bad...

I thought it would be cool to try to make an alternate version of the image with her second color scheme, because it's not like I get many specific opportunities to try something like that...I remember I wanted to do something like have the lineart change more significantly between versions (I was going to redraw one of her hands), but setting up the layers for that to work would be a nightmare, so it's just her expression and the color scheme that changes. (Luckily, the pose I think ended up working fairly well for both)

I really liked the game! The way it was largely reminded me of the sort of Sonic game I would make up in my head when I was like 10 years old...which means it was cool and awesome. I'm excited to see what the extra playable characters they intend to add in the dlc will be like...

This picture ended up being my last properly finished drawing of 2022, so...I don't know what to say about that. Just an observation.

Wait, I almost forgot my joke. Hang on here goes:
Damn...she got autobalanced...

a bunch of deltarune fanart I did at some point on this undertale/deltarune-focused oekaki board...So none of these were in my usual programs, obviously, so that's why they may look a bit scraggly.
...Hopefully the way I coded this page's formatting will support this many images at once eh?

That second image (the first one of Ralsei) is a screenshot of the oekaki interface not because it looked cool but actually because if I remember correctly the program started behaving strangely when I tried to submit it, so I just took a screenshot assuming that the image would just be broken and lost forever. And then my internet went out for like 3 days. But when it came back it turned out that the picture was actually totally fine and I was able to submit it normally...? But I still have it saved this way on my computer so that's how I'm uploading it.

Also, the last picture is based on one of the promotional images for the Jevil plush because I drew it I think the same day it was announced. The beast unleashed and he loves pumpkins...

For some reason it seems odd adding to this art page now, perhaps because I've forgotten to update it for so long...I know I could just make a second page since I already made it with the idea that I'd do that in mind, but I feel like it'd be strange to do that when I'm just uploading backlog stuff from last year...Ah well maybe I'll go back and move this to a new page later...

sage from sonic frontiers...had to get my "drew the new sonic character within hours of their reveal" points in

it's funny that sega said june would be the month of news about this game and then showed almost nothing of substance until literally today, almost the end of june. but this character is pretty intriguing...very obvious observation but she does remind me of infinite from forces in her design to some extent what with the color scheme and the "glitchy" motif. also it's cool to see a humanoid character that isn't eggman again since i believe they haven't done that in a game since unleashed (because they went through a phase where they decided humans lived in another dimension from animals, and this information was only communicated in a random interview about forces, then made only one spinoff racing game in the time that was canon, and then made it not be canon anymore so its like it didnt matter at all. by jove i love having to deal with 2010s sonic the hedgehog "lore")
that resemblance does make me wonder if frontiers might try to do something more interesting with the whole phantom ruby thing, because in forces the ruby was just...really lame...they overexplained it to death so its power was "it changes your depth perception so that the sun goes into the earth and kills you". i really don't know how they managed to make the concept of "magical rock with powers" so completely uncool in the "magical rocks with powers" series. but since frontiers like...isn't written by the sonic colors writers maybe it could actually make it seem cool again...though also maybe frontiers doesn't really need to be dragged down by having to be the sequel to sonic forces ^.^; no game deserves such a fate

thing i drew because i remembered sa2's 21st anniversary was soon and i thought it would be nice to draw something for it (also the series in general's 31st anniversary on the same day, but um...whatever...) because it's been a while...i don't think i've tried to seriously draw sonic fanart since i was like 14 or 15 but lately it would seem i have been undergoing some sort of autism event or something. idk there's a new game this year maybe it's just that that's in the air...
(for the record at time of writing this i think frontiers looks like it'll be at the very least pretty alright, if not running the risk of being poorly optimized. it does make me a bit sad that a certain breed of internet comment/post-maker has already decided it looks like "trash", because i think most of my initial issues with it turned out to be just "the first gameplay reveal was just 7 minutes walking around actively ignoring anything that looked interesting and not explaining anything i was looking at". but now that there's more interesting footage and some more information out there it looks a lot better already...maybe there won't even be wisps or zavok in it this time! Lord knows i miss the days of not having to see wisps or zavok...why...nobody even liked lost world and it was a wii u game so it couldn't have even sold that well...why do they keep making us see zavok...)

um anyway...i'd say i'm surprised i still know how to draw these guys so well but uh...actually that is not surprising at all and makes perfect sense, because drawing sonic the hedgehog was how i really learned to draw "seriously" in the first place when i was younger...so it would stand to reason i'd basically be hardwired for it then...

Also lol at how i accidentally picked the most difficult angle possible to draw the soap shoes from i didn't mean to do that to myself. did you know those apparently have an in-universe name? because i didn't until very recently. they're called "2G hi-speed shoes" apparently. 2G as in the cellular network. because when the game released, that was the fastest one there was. Perhaps didn't age well

THIS is a redraw of an image that was literally less than 6 months old at the time. (the original was from february, and this one...i already wrote the date for this one)
i just didn't like the original much as i realized when i tried to put it on this page before...so i drew the exact same picture again, except now it is the second time i drew the exact same picture. Yay

this is a button to show the old version of this exact same picture, which was drawn on february 16th 2022. (NOT 2020 that was a typo)

A drawing of Kirby from the Nintendo games. He has the Space Ranger ability, which gives him a grey and blue space helmet and a blue and yellow laser gun. There are small stars surrounding him, and lightning is coming out of the laser gun.

kirby my friend kirby :)

i drew this a day or two after beating the game (though at time of writing i've still only barely started on the postgame stuff) it was good :) good video game :)
the space ranger ability is really cute and also kinda totally busted it just melts everything...

A rough painting of Ralsei from Deltarune.

random ralsei event (the event where i just kinda felt like drawing ralsei that day even though i wasn't really actively thinking about deltarune at that point)
(i'm usually quite one track minded so i think it's usually a bit unusual for me to draw something that isn't what i'm immediately actively interested in at any given point in time...i think i'm getting a little better about this though...Or it's just that ralsei is usually very easy to draw and people generally seem to like it when i draw him. Either or)

A drawing of the UTAU Kasane Teto. She is winking and pointing to herself with her thumb, with her other hand on her hip. Next to her is a smaller 'chibi' version of herself, now with bat wings on her back, happily holding a loaf of french bread.

drew this on teto's anniversary...i was apparently really good at remembering the current date for a bit.
and for a while i did kinda have a habit of just drawing sing-y computer voice fanart whenever i felt bad about not posting art for a little while. i guess they just are easy enough to fall back on.

i do lament that i feel like this kind of drawing makes my art look a little more stagnant than it actually is and sorta obsfucates any progression i make, but then i'm usually too shy to post the times i do try to draw in different styles...i guess i'll try to work on it :|
(i swear i can draw things that aren't this cutesy and bobbleheaded!! kind of.. )

anyway...to this day i still regret that i for some reason wrote the date by hand horizontally and then rotated it instead of just typing it vertically like the japanese text was...help!! the visual cohesion! it's all out of whack!

also there is this thing:

A drawing of the UTAU Defoko. She is standing against a background resembling a circuitboard, with purple, grey, blue and black wires dangling behind her. She has a deadpan expression and is loosely holding a power cord, which has small blue sparks emitting from it.

actually i still really like this one...i feel like it struck a pretty decent balance between my usual art style and the less "chibi"-ish stuff i was trying to figure out how to draw but mostly not posting around this time. the hands look so normal...i could cry...
(though saying that does remind me i need to try practicing that other style again...i worry i might have forgotten how to draw like that by this point)

actually, assuming i haven't made the main page look completely different by the time you read this, this drawing inspired the page decoration with all the dangling wires in the corners back there! i think that sorta thing looks really cool...i just wish i had more patience for actually drawing it.

just some little guys...yep...they sure are small
i wanted to draw more things in this dumb lil marshmallow-looking style but haven't gotten around to it yet...at some point...maybe...

A painting of Madotsuki from Yume Nikki, referenced from a photo of a plush of the same character. The colors are very dark, with her hair blending into the background surrounding her.

this was an attempt to copy a photo i took of the madotsuki plush that i have sitting on my desk. i realized too late that this was not the best idea to do when i don't like painting. (or didn't at the time, i think it's grown on me a little since)
somehow it does not really look that much like the photo at all. The photo was too perfect to be captured in a feeble drawing...

A drawing of the villagers Petri and Raymond from Animal Crossing New Horizons. Petri is smiling and holding a test tube with a bubbling green liquid. Raymond has bloodshot eyes and is holding a cup of coffee with shaking hands.

from a fleeting moment in time where i got really back into animal crossing before promptly forgetting to play it entirely again.
neither of these guys are or have ever been on my damn island. was genuinely considering figuring out how to spoof amiibos for a bit there until i got distracted...would have been kinda cool...

A drawing of Chara from Undertale. They have their hands cupped in front of them, with a pixel heart (the Soul from Undertale) hovering above their fingers. Their expression is a sarcastic, tired smile. The image is edited so that some sections of the picture seem mildly 'glitchy'.
The same drawing of Chara as previous, but edited. The colors are now darker and more saturated, the glitch effects more intense, and their face has changed so that their eyes are scribbly black dripping circles.

i forgot this drawing was actually good. sorry about the jpeg situation though you know how it is

i remember when i was drawing it i was recalling how when i was 13 chara was my favorite UT character and also that i would draw them with like, absurdly pointy hair just like sticking straight up their head was a damn crescent shape at a certain point. I didn't do that here mostly because it had been years since i drew them but i kept it just a liiiittle gravity defying for old time's sake

i think i was like thinking about something analysis-wise when i was drawing this but honestly it's been months now so i forgot what that could have been LOL. anyway chara the patron saint of 13 year olds with problems disorder

i drew things before this point in time as well (and some things in between these that i didn't include for now)
but like i said i don't wanna eat all of the space on this site with just this LOL
